Our wonderful colleague Deborah has been compared to Santa after dropping off gifts to keep up the spirits of friends who were shielding during the lockdown. Deborah, who works at our Workington store, has organised Zoom quizzes and bingo games, done people’s shopping and delivered small gifts, including afternoon tea, to people like her life-long friend Sally, pictured here with Deborah.

She said: “It was just a little something with the times we were going through, as nobody knew what was happening and they couldn’t just get up and go where they wanted. I’d just leave it on the doorstep so there was no contact. They would open the door and see things on the step. They knew it was from me, but I hope it helped made a difficult time a little easier.

Why is this??? Asda at Drakehouse Cystal Peaks. What is the point of a hand sanitiser station just as you walk on to the shop floor, completely empty! I was at Asda Ipswich superstore store yesterday, a staff with a radio short in height came up to me from no where and stared at the items in my trolley as I walked out of the store with my son, who is 15 months old. This is not his first time, he stopped me to ask for my receipts, two months ago when I was at the same store, no one else around me was stopped.

I do feel uncomfortable going to the bigger store in Ipswich and it seems that I am being watched or prejudged. I thought that the first time was just normal and now seems that it a routine for them to check me when I do visit that particular store. It was again a very uncomfortable visit yet again and I am sure that I can afford to pay for my shopping. I arranged for an online delivery for Saturday 22 August between 12 and 2pm.

The Prime Minister on Monday, March 23, announced the UK would be entering a lockdown, and ordered the closure of all non-essential businesses. But as shoppers continue to panic buy, supermarket home delivery slots have been running out as quickly as they are released. If you buy online, make sure to check minimum spends and delivery fees as supermarkets will often set limits on how much you can spend.

When your delivery arrives, it may be substituted with alternative stock if some items you ordered have since gone out of stock. Make sure to let your supermarket know you are self isolating upon delivery, so that they can make the appropriate adjustments and leave your order outside the door if necessary. In London, slots went as far as March 31 but were all fully booked, but check your area as availability will depend on location. Click here to find your local Asda.

The retail giant is also asking customers to shop in-store where possible so that delivery slots can be reserved for those most in need, like the elderly or people with a compromised immune system. This means that they can share resources, delivery depots and vans, as well as staff in an effort to provide the best available service to customers. Members of the British Retail Consortium penned an open letter to the public urging them to stop panic buying.
